Tabloid Fodder

Why is it that we live in a world where a celebrity’s every movement is on our radar? I had no internet for twenty four hours, and the first thing I did upon getting my internet back was check Oh No They Didn’t. I even have a link to it on this blog.

But why? Why is that? Why can we say, with absolute convinction, that we love, say, Angelina Jolie, as much as our significant other when we’ve never met her? How can we look at a picture of a shirtless James McAvoy and say, “James, do me” or “I want this Scottish hottie. In my pants.” Why is it that girls swoon over one Gary Oldman? (Or maybe that’s just me….) None of us know these people, yet we talk about them as if we do, criticize their judgements and fashion and dating habits, and generally act as though we have a right to do so.

That being said, I’ll watch anything with Gary Oldman in it. Anything.

And I’m very bored. I’m reading Taste by Kate J on Portkey.org. I’d forgotten how much I adore this story. I especially love chapter four, Egg Nog, because I love the gift Harry bought Hermione. How cute is that? It’s a little charm bracelet with five personalized charms. Harry chose five that represent different times he and Hermione had sex. (It’s cute, really. Read it.) I would so love something like that.

Let’s pretend I’m dating, oh, my friend Kayoukai. If he got me a charm bracelet like that, the charms would probably be something like

-His first initial (which is actually K)

-A heart

-A can of Red Bull

-A set of stairs

-A candy cane

Each of those things means something in our friendship in real life, and so would be entirely appropriate if, at this very moment, he got them for me now.

(Kayoukai and I aren’t dating. He has a girlfriend, a sweet little thing named Robin.)

I like Om. I don’t know what he would put on a bracelet like that, though. Perhaps an Om symbol, haha. Maybe a book – not because I like them, but because they relate to his job. A high heeled shoe, which symbolizes prom, which is how we found out we liked each other. His first initial (which isn’t O in real life.) Glasses, haha…. I don’t quite know. It’s too early to think of such things anyway. I was only musing because I’m reading Taste…

Scarlett and Harmony Bunny and I should give each other bracelets like that. Once I scrape together a bit of money, I think I’ll buy them. On Scarlett’s, I’d put

-A wolf

-A bra

-Books

-A heart

-A frog

And on HB’s I’d put

-A crescent moon

-Books

-A pencil

-A heart

-A cat

D’oh!

I just reached for my Vitamin Water (raspberry apple, because I know you’re all dying to know) and tried to drink from it…. but there was nothing left.

I feel stupid now.

Hello world!

I’m Laura or, as WordPress knows me, Bookworm1968. I’m a recent high school grad, poised to enter the crazy, time-consuming, very expensive world of college in August. Oh goody. I have accounts practically everywhere – on every blog, every email client. This is my kind of “I’m not going to be a stupid teenager” blog. Hopefully it goes the way I want it to.
